Sheet Music and Bird Silhouette Necklaces: Small Paintings You Can Wear

Not everything in the shop started as a puddle of paint.

Some of it started as a page of music somebody played from, decades ago, and a bird drawn small enough to sit under a piece of glass.

Bird silhouettes and old sheet music, set under glass.

What is actually under the glass

Every one of these is a 25mm domed glass cabochon on a black waxed cord. The dome is the part that does the work — it magnifies whatever sits underneath it and gives the whole thing depth, so a flat scrap of paper or a flat bit of paint suddenly looks like it has been poured in resin.

Sheet music

Vintage sheet music, cut so a few bars land in the frame. There are four pendants and every one is a different passage of music, so no two people end up wearing the same phrase. You choose which one from the dropdown, and that exact pendant is the one that ships.

Owls and ravens

These ones I painted. Fourteen pendants, fourteen separate little paintings of an owl or a raven in silhouette — not fourteen prints of the same one. That means when you pick from the dropdown you are picking a specific painting, and once it goes, that one is gone.

For people who do not wear necklaces

The same domed glass goes onto an adjustable silver tone cuff, roughly 2.5 inches across the inside with a 1.5 inch opening, so it fits most wrists without a clasp to fumble with. Plenty of people love a piece of art but will never put anything round their neck. This is for them.

Why one of a kind actually means something here

A lot of handmade jewelry is one design made over and over. These are not that. Each pendant holds its own piece of paper or its own painting, which is why every listing makes you choose a specific one rather than just adding a generic item to a cart.

It also means there is no restocking. When a pendant sells it comes off the list, and the next one is a different bar of music or a different bird.
